Gold Coast Tipi Wedding Magic

One of the many benefits of a venue with acres of open lawn surrounded by lush tropical nature, is that we are the perfect setting to host tipi and marquee weddings. The kind of wedding that really captures that under the stars party feel. So if you’re on the hunt for a Gold Coast wedding venue that can also host tipi weddings, this one is for you.

While we absolutely love our authentic 100 year old barn, when we heard Gold Coast Tipi’s were keen to create some magic on our lawn under one of their 13m wide Kata tipis, suffice to say, we were a tad excited!

We sat down with Chloe from Bliss and Willow to chat all things tipi weddings!

– Three words to describe this shoot?
Luxe, Boheme, Magical

– Talk us through the inspiration behind the style?
Tipis are synonymous with big country weddings. Cow paddocks, hay bales and wine barrels are most often styled to suit the country/rustic vibe. Taking inspiration from the tall palm, trees, manicured lawns & gorgeous rainforest gardens at The Acre, we wanted to create a luxe Boheme style for this shoot. Something to suit a gorgeous summer soiree wedding, with an upmarket festival feel. As a result, we paired stunning on-trend furniture, decor, florals & lighting with the majestic Kata tipi, we created a style that we adore!

Inside the tipi, our beautifully styled dining table sits under a cluster of gorgeous pendant basket lights. A sprawling service bar gives plenty of space to serve cocktails, and display tubs of iced champagne and fresh drinking coconuts. Stepping outside the tipi, we set a luxe picnic set up with a low feasting table, teamed with cushions & rugs. Framed with more overhead feature lighting is an invitation to make yourself comfy and soak up the atmosphere. Lining the entrance to the tipi with festoon and fairy lights we feel really set the scene and helped create the festival vibe. We are inspired by everything bohemian when it comes to the tipis, so to mix this with a touch of luxe was a perfect combination for our team.

– What are the benefits of having your wedding in a tipi instead of inside a fixed venue?
With a tipi wedding you can create something truly bespoke. From a small intimate affair, to a big sprawling festival style wedding, the options are endless. On a large property you can spread out and incorporate indoor/outdoor dining areas, food trucks, mobile bars, an outdoor dance floor. Imagine having your first dance under the stars. You can arrive on a helicopter if you like, and we’ve seen our couples end the night with a fabulous fireworks display!
With the sides up you have the perfect summer space. If it rains the sides are brought down for full coverage from the weather. The feeling inside the tipis is just amazing. It’s a totally unique experience.

The exciting thing about the tipis is that multiple Katas can be joined to create an undercover space for the biggest of wedding parties. And with Covid in play, this means the bigger the property, the more space you have to spread out your guests. Of course things are changing each week so it’s best to keep up with the latest regulations in this regard.

– What does a venue need, to be suitable to host a tipi wedding?
A large flat grassed area that the tipis can be pegged into, nearby power, and access for a large vehicle and trailer. Couples must also consider facilities. Such as toilets, generators for music & catering, and be prepared to hire in furniture, decor & of course engage a great stylist!

– What’s your top tip when it comes to styling a tipi wedding?
Think outside the box. Be creative with your style choices, rustic works, but there are so many other styles to explore. Incorporate lots of different seating options. Lighting is your best friend, you can never have enough festoon and fairy lights! And don’t forget to light up the trees around the tipi with colour. Your after sunset photos will be amazing!
